Water tank for the Patrol

Dave & Shelley (NT)

Hi guys,

I am looking at some touring mods for some of our upcoming trips and am thinking about a water tank for the mighty GU Patrol. I have found several on the net but they are usually 20lt capacity and in the rear lf quarter panel. I really after a under the floor model which should hold around 60LT. Has anyone had any experience with such an item??? Any info will be great.

Cheers

for what it's worth at the 4wd show in Perth at the weekend there were all shapes and sizes of tanks including soft ones for the floor. All the regular outlets - ARB TJM ORE OPP LOCK had their own versions. I used an ally tank many years ago (120L) in a trailer and managed to crack the welds halfway between Broome and Alice. Purchased 3 x 20L plastics and they are still going - best thing is that if any crack only lose some and not all of the water. rgds

We have Long Range Automotive SS tank in our GU - might be of interest. About 58l. Great product but not well known. See my rig pic. Outlet through leftside rear door. Bolts to child anchors and front 3rd row seats mounts. cheers JD

OL sell one that fits behind the rear seats very neatly.
I have used a bladder and it worked well however my favourite is simple 20ltr and 10ltr plastic water containers which are sold for around $15 in Big W and K mart plus many other camping stores.
I used to have a handle on life, but it broke.

Cheers Dodg.

Hi Dave,

I have had 2 vehicles now - a Pajero and a Patrol which I have had custom tanks made for both. The Patrol I did a mockup out of thin ply and a glue gun and once happy I gave to a mate to make up out of stainless. He charged around $300 but it turned out really good. Holds 56L and uses very little room in the rear cargo area.

Picture of it is in my rig pics.

Regards
David
