Andrew,
You must have a 3.0Di with the 265/70's. If these are the same as mine (standard fitment) they are Dueller A/T's. Beware, these are only passenger rated
tyres, even though designated AT. If you are planning in any rough or rocky travel you may be advised to go to a LT rated tyre before you strike trouble, although new P rated
tyres should be pretty tough up to about 40% wear. If you do change, go 75's all round, your speedo should be more accurate and you will get a little more under diff clearance. 75's are fitted std on the cab/chassis.
As for your question, IMHO, you should be able to use the 75 as a spare with no trouble do long as you don't have a locked diff or engage 4wd on a hard surface (which you are not meant to do in the Patrol). The slack in the LSD should be enough to take up the difference and putting it on the back would avoid any steering problems etc.

Yep..3.0TD
I agree with what you say about the standard
tyres. They're the worst I've had on a vehicle for wear and just about no rough stuff and only 23000k's. Will be lucky to get 35,000 out of them
My intention was to replace them with cooper A/T's when the time comes.
I think in the cooper I have no choice but o get the 75's as they don't do a 70 in the A/T
cheers
