Problem is Prado gear is common as bums, where as L300 gear isnt.... Torsion bars are always going to be expensive.. You do see some advertised in 4wd magazines, maybe call some of the places advertising them, see what they charge, to see if your quote is in the ballpark or out in space...

I seem to remember somene saying Pajero gear was similar?

I can recommend good places in South East Vic, around Seaford/Mornington...

Are the torsion bars had it ? or have they been lowered or reinstall incorrect?? As it must have had a hard life to be had it at 13 yrs old ,as valiants had them and there are heaps still going strong with original bars in them. I think the price you are being quoted is fair as there is a lot of time in doing the jobs you are quoting and springs and bars arent cheap or you could save yourself the money and do the labor yourself with a manual.

The torsion bars will be ok, these are strong vehicles, the bushes are easy to do and not expensive, the rear springs are probably ok but if you want to boost them you can fit Triton units. Eric.
