KiwiAngler

Hi guys and guyesses,

What plans do those of you in the Sydney area have for the lng weekend?
Tossing up whether to go fishing, 4x4 or maybe both.
Be good to 'hook up' (pun intended) with someone local to share the weekend fun with.

G'day KiwiAngler. I can't come out and play as I will be at work that weekend. Maybe next time. Have fun, what ever you do. Seeya, Roscoe.

You r up late :-)

I will definitely give you an update.

How was yr Landcruiser weekend?

Last weekend I did a 'quick' run up to Zig Zag just for the day and had a ball. Found a DEEP hole under the power lines and didnt take the time to check out depth, damn nearly got stuck. Lucky I had gone in low 1st anyway. It really surprised me how deep. If you look on the Overlander site you can see a pic another guy posted that shows just what it was like...same hole....look in campfire...lithgow photos
Lesson learnt...check all water holes

Kiwiangler,

I'm off to Mudgee with this weekend to test some of their local product. Was silly enough to suggest we ride around the vineyards on our MTB's so could be interesting.

Otherwise I would have been keen to combine fishing and 4x4. I'm keen to do some freshwater fishing as I have done very little of it in the past having spent most of my life on the coast.

By the way that's one hell of a bog hole you went through. Were you travelling alone?

The picture isnt actually me but it is the same hole...and if someone HAD taken my pic it would have looked just like that except the look on my face would have been VERY different......whitefaced...wide eyes...sweat on brow...and mouthing that very anglo saxon word we all often use when faced with surprises :-)

Yes was on my own and because of that normally keep well clear of waterholes but this day the 'red mist' clouded my mind and I went in :-))

I am leaving Sat morning and going to 'do' the Abercrombie Trek shown on page 23 of "4WD Close to Sydney".

I will spend Sat night back at Oberon and then continue with trek.

I will monitor channel 12 UHF whilst in the area

Bugger. The Mrs really wants to do Abercrombie, but due to an intrusion into our time on Monday arvo, we really won't really have the time to do it. Not keen on a Midday Sunday to Midday Monday trip - rather give it more time, another time.

It sounds like pleasant run. Enjoy the weekend.Talk is cheap ...
