CTEK MULTISTAGE 25000

Gday,
Just bought a ctek MS 25000. I realise these things are pretty much idiot proof. Just hook em up and they take care of the rest. One question though, when would i ever have to use the supply and recond. modes on charger, and does the unit automatically go to these modes or do i have to manually do it useing mode button.

“Supply” is just to use charger as power supply and “Reconditioning” is special more when you try to revive almost dead battery. It put surge voltage on battery and thus stir a bit electrolyte inside cells. I would use it only as last resort.

As a power supply , constant 13.6v , most 12v devices such as Waeco fridges "love"a slightly higher voltage than a true 12volts.
Opinions are like the dollar coin , not worth much.
Facts however can save you lots of dollars.

Yes, agree with Axel, this is it. I am sure that CTEK has short-circuit and overload protection, but I still would be reluctant to use such expensive device as a dummy power supply. But it is most likely just my paranoia :-)

I guess you could also use the power supply function for jobs such as powering-up a shed/house-mounted UHF radio too. If you had a base station inside your house so you could tell the missus when you're 5 minutes away from home, (so she could run out in the rain and open the garage roller door), you wouldn't want to have a great big 12 volt battery sitting on the microwave oven to power-up the UHF now, would you?! hahaha

The CTEK will go through a number of stages and then reach Pulse. This is the ongoing maintenance mode, which will keep the battery charged whilst in storage.

the ctek will automaticaly change through the 4 stages the final being the stage that pulses to push any sulfur from the plates. this is the maintenance or recondition mode. the most damage to batteries is siting with no load for an extended period of time. the pulse tries to replicate the discharge of the batery.

the supply mode can be used for supplying something like a fridge but there will be a maximum load an time period you can use it for.
i believe the 2500 can be used at 10A for 1 month. but don't quote me on those figures.
