12v relay

does anyone know the minimum volts to activate a 12volt relay. is it like 10 volts or 9 volts or 5 . thanks . and good on ya !!

Typically closer to 9v Sam , but after its made contact it won't release until around 5v

Ours switch on at 7.1V and off at 4.1V

They are 12V 30A 5 pin

The "pull in" and "drop out" voltages vary amongst manufacturers and models.

oh.. i was going to put it from the second battery to the fridge so when the voltage drops too low the relay would cut out and stop draining the battery. like a cheap voltage drain switch thing i suppose..

By the time most 12V relays reached the "drop out" voltage the battery would be well below its minimum voltage. Take a look at some of the electronic cut-out devices available; they are not too expensive.

That one switches off at 11.2V. This is a bit too low IMO to save a battery.
The gadget has an English front panel but the important details on the back are in German!
