It would have been much cheaper to have gone to GPS-Oz or Johnny Appleseed and bought a new Garmin, ...that WILL work.

I purchased my 500 at GPS OZ and look where it got me .

I had a Magellan FX324MAP before , so I thought I would stick with a brand that had been very reliable . It's very good to use - it's just the Ozi problem that's a bummer .

I got the bluetooth GPS "failure" off eBay because it was small , needed no wires and was cheap - big mistake .

I should have got a Garmin so I could pester you constantly with questions .

Do you think I should be approaching Ozi to try and get some sort of patch , or Magellan OR will they think it unimportant , and ignore my problem ?

It is working great now with the mouse type one and I bought a spare , just in case . But I would still like to be able to use the 500 as a back up if needed .

I have Ozi on my normal laptop , so I will see if it works on that tomorrow . I will email you if I have a negative result .

One thing about having a problem like that , it means you really wade in and get to know how it works , instead of being scared to touch it .

They didnt even bother making a driver for Vista that allowed for NMEA communications (used for moving map) - someone else had to do it. No harm in asking though, maybe they know something about the tablet operating system/issues (assuming that is actual problem). No harm in asking the Ozi boys either but I dont think it is an issue with Oziexplorer - it will work if it can get the data in right format - its simply not getting delivered.

I would have hooked up my Magellan FX324MAP Colour to it , but I wanted to have a new GPS that was more compatible with Google Earth and Ozi .

With the 324 , I have to export the my waypoints into Babel and then into the other software and it is a pain in the butt . And then to transfer the other way is a similar pain .

I am to much of a computer cretin to do all this yet , but my son has promised to help me soon !

I run a $99 mouse type GPS on the Fujitsu with Ozi , no problems . I bought a spare mouse GPS in case of another failure .

I have no idea what you are talking about with your statement "why would you spend $500 on a secondhand unit"

I have not paid $500 for a GPS , it was $1000 and it was new , not second hand .
