old engel fridge on it's side???

I have an old Engel (sawafuji motor?) front opening fridge. I find the front opening design is a bit restrictive - can't really fill it up, and things slide about a bit...

Anyway, question is - if I fashioned some legs to suit the back of it (to allow some ventilation, maybe 4" high or more?) could it be used as a chest type fridge? I've read that compressor type fridges can cope with running off level, but is 90deg asking too much?

Cheers,
Charlie

You may be able to reposition the motor/compressor assembly so that it is still the right way up after the conversion.

Have heard of it being done but have not seen it.
