Radiator Price for 1HZ

Submitted: Saturday, Mar 01, 2008 at 14:51

Brian B (Mackay Qld)

Hi all
Does anybody know the rough prices for a new and exchange radiator for a 1HZ cruiser?
I am fitting it myself, but dont know if whether and exchange or a brand new radiator is the best option?
It appears the current leaks are from the core, but i have had a leak once at the botton of the bottom tank, and a big dent in the top tank.

Thanks for your help.

I had thought about 650 for a new one..so I had a water alarm fitted also. They charged me $1100 !!
Next time I'll go to a radiator shop instead of a 4wd one!

I have had dramas with the ones from Repco. They appear to be cheapies and don't last. I would try a good radiator outlet.

got an aussie desert cooler heavy duty triple bypass 4 core for $490 plus freight ($50 O/nite courier) Been using their radiators in several cars for a few years and wouldn't use anything else. Once you put one of theirs in cooling troubles are a thing of the past.

I still have the not very old 3 core factory unit if you get cash strapped and stuck.

Hi Brian. I replaced in feb 06. $660 for a genuine one which was only slightly dearer than aftermarket.
When fitting it I turned the mounting bolts around the other way which made the job much easier. Good luck.

If you're gonna replace- go for a 3-core unit.
Ours (exchange, new core, - with warranty) was $390.
Of course we put new hoses, cap, inhibitor etc while we did the job.
