Can anybody suggest a roof rack (cage) for a NP Pajero with factory side rails. All I can find is rails and then try to find a cage.

Rhino Rack are considered to be excellent.

Choose "selector" and go through the process of enetering the car details. An option exists to select Pajero NP with factory rails. When you do this, the options a quite limited. Two bars only, total weight rated to 60kg for aero and HD bars. $280 with fittings.

By comparison, if you didn't have factory rails, you have 100kg max loading.

If you put a STEEL basket up there, you are going to lose a lot of your payload. You are therefore limited to a small-medium ALLOY basket with a max payload of 30 - 35 kg (guessing).

Check it out, the website is pretty good.

To be clear - you don't have crossbars?

If not then I had a similar setup on my Discovery (LandRover wanted close to $500 for the crossbars). I bought a cage (any brand will do) that was wider then the side rails then just put long U bolts diagonally under the rails then through the cage. Unfortunately this left the threads above the floor of the cage in the corners as the rails were too close to the roof at the back. Did many km without a problem. The stated dimensions for the widest part of the cage will be on the brochure as the "length".

If you have crossbars then ignore the above :)

Unfortunately the cage I have is exactly the same width as the side rails (bummer) so I will need to put some bars upfirst.

Get rid of the factory rails and install the Rhino track mount system. It looks factory and avoids the whole "tearing the factory hooks out of the roof" thing. Peace of mind.

We had a set on our NM, and when we bought the NP I just bought and installed the tracks myself. Anyone with a reasonable knowledge of how to drill metal could do it.
