Soft roader tyres..Good News

Cooper has released a new tyre the CS4 designed around vehicles such as the X-trail, Forester.CRV etc. which have long suffered the lack of suitable tyres for sustained outback touring. The new tyre is far stronger than the past and has a new silica compound which promises to deliver far incresed mileage. By way of comparison the standard tyre fitted to thhe X-trail has a wear index of 300 whereas the CS4 rating is 780 which indicates that the new tyre should wear 2.6 times that of the original. Fitted a set of 215.65.16 CS4s to the wifes CRV last week. The OE tyres lasted for only 54000Ks on mainly country roads. Completed an 800k round trip from Mudgee to the coast over the weekend via the Barringtons and Goulburn River NP. to attend my mothers 22nd birthday. Tyres felt good on both the stony dirt of the Barringtons and the smooth tar in between. With any luck this tyre will fill the bill for soft roaders. We have some horror stories of blown tyres from our Forester days when we toured all states. Trying to replace a tyre in the bush was a non event. Had to carry 3 spares to be sure..to be sure...Thanks Cooper

Yes they are. CS4
Maybe a good wet road tyre but with a tread pattern like that would be useless on a muddy trail. Wear up to 80,000 MILES. Yes Mr Cooper........I'll believe you, back to your padded cell ;-)
Cheers Craig.........

Sorry, but as far as I'm concerned ... the words Coopers & Outback should never be used in the same sentence!
