If you going for a tyre that wide (285), then I you will definately have some clearance issues on the front,
the Prado has very little clearance between the tyre and the
suspension (can't fit chains on the front
wheels even with 265's). plus you will get the front
tyres rubbing the guards when on full lock. I definately
would not go for 285's, stick to the standard 265's. Also if you have an automatic and you go for the taller

tyres, you will lose some low range and engine breaking will not be as good.... i.e if you do steep
decents your low range 1st will feel like it's running away, then you will have to use more brakes. I'm
not sure if this is an issue with manual Prado's, but this is what I found with my auto. Hope this helps
