Keith, where did you obtain the info on the road closures. I have checked the Shire web site Link and am unable to find any such reference. I too am planning to travel that way soon.

Please, if your going to give Doom and Gloom warnings then make sure your info is recent.

Most of these closures and warnings for the route i question were dated early to mid February!

I agree wth contacting the RTA or council to get a update on out dated closures.

Drove it last April from Burke to Wilcannia heading to Broken HIll. Saw a number of 2WD vehicles coming the other way and apart from a couple of quite sandy stretches the road was great. It would have taken well over an hour off the journey if I'd gone on the bitumen via Cobar.

Hi Hans,

Did the trip last week - Bourke to Wilcannia on the Eastern side of the Darling. Road conditions were good - Normal speed 90/100 kph. Just a couple of spots where I had to slow to 60kph. Watch out for the numerous cattle grids as not all of them have warning signs and it is not advisable to hit them at speed.

Regards,

Steve O
