Article Overview - Hunt Oil Road
This remote trek links the Gunbarrel Hwy with the Great Central Road. It passes via Mount Worsnop and past the Hunt Oil road camps and drilling sites. View Full Article...
Last year covered 3000 km of Len Beadell rds and now going back for more. Would like to include the Hunt Oil rd in this trip and would welcome feed back from recent travellers. Have read the trek notes.

thanks, Tol

Most recent thread is the alien thread here.

But seriously, its an easy run, and a nice alternative to the corrugations on Len's roads.

Two of our group did it in 2007, and reported it a bit overgrown in the northern section, so look out for spinifex buildup under the vehicle.

Thanks Phil G & John R for your replies to my request. Experienced quite a lot of spinifex on last years trip and as pretty as it is when seeding you do have to be careful and extract handfuls of the stuff from under the vehicle. It is good to be reminded of the need to do so. Regards TOL.

Just a crazy(?) thought,.....if you were to attach chicken wire or like from both sides of the engine support cross member and let it trail back to short of the rear wheels in particularly bad spinifex areas ...........? ......silverback

Food for thought David, thanks. Dragging as you suggest would probably catch on stumps, bushes etc.. but their are some areas underneath that could be worth protecting. Will give it more thought. Tol.
