In July We went north from Yunta via Curnamona Stn and Martins Well.
The servo operator at Yunta advised us against the more southerly route towards
Hawker as he said there was a confusing maze of gas exploration tracks to get lost in.
The ruins at Waukaringa were interesting, then turn toward Koonamore Stn, keep left after Curnamona Stn then left again at Martins Well. The last 20 or so km are especially picturesqe as you drive along the base of the Chase Range - spectactular late in the day.

Rob, is this route only suitable for a 4WD or would a late model Falcon wagon be OK? How much time should we plan for going from Yunta to
Wilpena? Is fuel available out there? Would August be a good time? Regards Boxie

Re the late-model Falcon. Difficult to say. Track surfaces vary enormously depending on how how much rain there's been and how long since the last grader. Based on when we went (July) I'd say you'd probably be fine in August, but you really should stop at the Mobil service station (directly opposite the turnoff in Yunta) and speak to the operator. Cheers and good luck.
