Uniden UHF040XR Battery Charger

Submitted: Saturday, Jul 05, 2003 at 15:33

Hi,

I have a Uniden UHF040XR Hand held that allows you to charge up rechargeable batteries. The charger input is a 2.5mm socket.

Does anyone know what voltage is required and what polarity the 2.5mm plug should be.

I have enough plug packs around the place & would like to utilise one of those if possible.

Thanks
Phil P

Phil P,, D-ck smith electronics sells the relevant charger for less than $40,,plugs into the microphone jack,, voltage is 720miliamps,,cant tell ofhand the polarity,,part no is AAD-42S,,can tellyou however that LONGER usage on 5-5-90 is achieved using normal alkaline batteries [38/40 hrs] than using rechargeable ni-cd [25hrs] or ni-mh [30hrs]...

For those who dont know what 5-5-90 refers to it is 5 seconds recieve- 5 seconds send- 90 seconds monitor in a perpetual cycle.

hmmm,
720milliamps is not a voltage?

Perhaps a trip into Richard Smiths and take a peek at a charger, the voltage should be printed on it somewhere.

Positive should be to the centre of pin?

I'm looking at my Uniden charger now for the UHO40Xwhatever the model is handheld. :-)

I use NiMh batteries as they are far superior to NiCads and get outstanding results. Haven't actually measure the runtime but don't have to recharge for a number of days when using frequently.

Output is Voltage of the Uniden charger as labeled on the charger itself is 7VDC and current 70mA... the end pole of the plug is negative and the inner pole positive - just measured with my Multimeter...

Cheers,

Luke.
