It seems to be happening more and more with the EO web site, can't log on,server error, links are dead, freezers up.

When this happens we try other web sites with no issues.

Dave might be time to throw out the Commodore 64 server and upgrade to a 386 DX4 LOL.

You can buy the quite cheap these days with 8 meg of ram and a 30 meg harddrive.......yes I did say meg not gig.

Joke:
A businessman met a beautiful girl and agreed to spend the afternoon with
her for $500. They did their thing, and, before he left, he told her that he
did not have any cash with him, but he would have his secretary write a
cheque and mail it to her, calling the payment 'RENT FOR APARTMENT.'
On the way to the office, he regretted what he had done, realizing that the
whole event had not been worth the price. So he had his secretary send a
cheque for $250 and enclose the following typed note:
'Dear Madam:
Enclosed find a cheque for $250 for rent of your apartment. I am not sending
the amount agreed upon, because when I rented the place, I was under the
impression that:
1 - it had never been occupied;
2 - there was plenty of heat; and
3 - it was small enough to make me feel cosy and at home.
However, I found out that it had been previously occupied, that there wasn't
any heat, and that it was entirely too large.'
Upon receipt of the note, the girl immediately returned the cheque for $250
with the following note:
'Dear Sir:
First, I cannot understand how you could expect a beautiful apartment to
remain unoccupied indefinitely.
As for the heat, there is plenty of it, if you know how to turn it on.
Regarding the space, the apartment is indeed of regular size, but if you
don't have enough furniture to fill it, please do not blame the management.
Please send the rent in full or we will be forced to contact your present
landlady.

Must admit I've been having the same dramas as you. I've always had minor issues but it seems to have got worse in the last 2-4 weeks.

As you said, I don't think its my computer, cause I immediately go to another site and have no issues.

This isn't a big complaint (I can imagine keeping a site as big as this running smoothly would be a nightmare) just that David mighten know about it unless people say something.

I'm all ears too David if there maybe some settings wrong on my computer???

Hughesy, you said that you had minor issues on your computer but "... when I go to another site I have no issues" - aren't you saying, therefore, that it IS your computer?

I have to agree. There seems to be an intermittent problem where when you go back to the forum index from a post it returns to the top of the page instead of the last thread you entered.

Yep, and also updated the Flash player. As I said I have found it intermittent. No great drama but if it a symptom of bigger issues it might help.

G'day Olcoolone,

Could not agree more, and it is not my equipment.

For quite some weeks now it has been a PITA trying to work effectively and quickly around this site. Still, maybe it is the price
we must pay to view all the adverts..not sure.

There will be others heading back this way afterwards but you would enjoy poking up around that way. We won't be heading off until the Saturday or Sunday.

Yes I have been unable to get in over the last two weeks - mostly at night. Busy here getting ready for the gymkhana this weekend and I haven't had as much time to spare so seems even more frustrating. When I can get in it then takes almost 5 minutes before I can open a thread. (I am on dialup and I am a long way away - LOL).

Please stop blaming the EO server, have a look at your toy first,
Different server use different security settings if you using XP have you updated to service pack 3 yet? I have 2 laptops use mostly on dialup and they run as smooth as the sain goes, don’t be afraid to use your internet option on a regular basis, and I’m not an IT specialist, in the year 2000 bought first my first PC, a friend set it up for me and left me with it, when time to turn it off the only way I could was to pull the plug off the wall

Nomadoz, I've got a very good understanding of computers and software and I'm on many forums, I have no trouble with the other ones..only EO.

Security settings can play a part if people tamper with them, David should have his site optimised to cater for most web browsers and settings.

One or two people having problems may be their computers but many having problems at the same time is a server issue.

It doesn't happen all the time or at any set time, you can be happily surfing EO and then all of a sudden it freezes, links don't work or it runs very very very slow.

People on dial up would not see it as a problem because it may be normal to yous.

I was having the same problems last night and got an error page coming up.

So, at 7.16 pm (CST) I copied and pasted the error page into an email and sent it off to David.

At 7.21 pm I had a reply from him saying it was him that caused the error page to come up. He apologised for the inconvenience, he was doing some updates.

So, I thought I can't get better service than that. 5 minutes to get a reply.

How many of you have waited more than 5 minutes for a reply to an email?

Dave

Ev, I expect a full electronic report as I'm house bound with the little one at the moment and haven't been bush in months. Pictures are the closest thing I'll get to going walkabout for a while.

All the poo, tears and screaming just aint doin' it for me.....and as for the baby - well that's another matter.;-)

Make sure you drop over to the G and show off your new KK too. May as well sink the boot in while I'm down. I can show you a few cool spots to check out around Karijini too.

You might be using one of our systems to get online here. We do the sattelite comms on a lot of the offshore rigs. I came back from a drill rig off Exmouth a week or so ago, but there are quite a few trhere at the moment..

Hi,

Server error are usually the result of me loading new code to the system - this will not happen for a few weeks as I will not be in the office. The guys will but I will not.

Dead links and freeze ups - I have had no formal complaints about this from anyone before this thread. Can you duplicate the issue by doing something or is it just a random thing. There is certainly a major problem with the flash player and the issues you are reporting sound exactly like the flash player bugs. Try updating the flash player to the latest and see how you go.

I have also found what I think is another problem and is why the flash problem occurs - it appears one the the ads from the media agency may be causing an issue so I have requested that this ad be pulled from the system.

In any case I would recommend a flash player upgrade if you have not already done so. See http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=shockwaveFlash

Thanks David. I've upgraded from your link and I'll let you know how it goes over the next couple of days. Yeah mine was intermittant and would freeze up at times. When trying to submit a post was the worst. So I got into the habit of copying the post before posting....so I can paste it back in once I refesh it.

I appreciate your help David and in no way was I or I think anyone else knocking this fantasic site........just letting you know of some problems we were having.

David it happens for no reason and I've even turned off security programs and checked what is running in the back ground.

I can not simulate the problem from this end.

Could it be people with IE7 are the only ones having the issues.
