What are our chances of getting in and out of Innamincka?

I know the weather chart below is a bit speculative but it may pay to watch just the same, as is Elders Weather here is indicating 40% chance of possible rain Monday and 20% Tuesday but look at this forecast over the next couple of days as we think of heading that way

Hey Bro

Remember previous National Gatherings?......It rained in 2005 and it rained in 2007

Looks like a repeat....lol

Just south of Strzelecki Creek on the Lyndhurst/Moomba /Innamincka Road(Strzelecki Track) there is stretch of about 6km of clay topped road. Together with a Raod Train, my mate George in his Hilux and the GQ we all got seriously bogged after about 10mm of rain during the night(Oct 2004). Sat there for about 4 hours to wait for it to dry off and then drove away. The Road Train however, had slid off the road and was going nowhere.

Food for thought.....hahahahahaha

Bro, you were instrumental in all of the gatherings so it will be interesting to see whether you can organise any rain prior to this one. If the forecasts come to pass it could be good for the Darling even yet. Help to keep the dust out of cars anyway

Watching Weatherzone can yield some infromation too. Fair chance it could be wet when we get to Broken Hill to meet up with Dave and any other crew about. Haven't spoken with Gone Bush since he left Melbourne.

Hi Willem,

I tried not to look at Innamincka posts, really I did.

Rain if only I could get there.

I wonder..........would SWMBO notice if I got "lost" on the way to Mudgee and ended up at the National Gathering?

You make sure you enjoy yourselves at Innamincka.

Dear John, how I hate to write - I just checked Weatherzone for Birdsville and couldn't believe my eyes when it told me rain for Monday Tuesday and showers for Wednesday. I haven't had time in the past week (with the Gymkhana) to look. I have noticed each morning there has been low cloud around the horizon to the south though and watching that.
Wouldn't be a National Gathering if it didn't pour with rain - who is responsible for the naked rain dance this time?
Oh no

Hi Sir Kev

So many things happened that I don't think I'll get round to writing a report till your back but here is one little thing that happened even before we got out of Birdsville.

Arrived Birdsville Friday night towing our 3 bikes just in time to find they had run out of desert at the Pub.

In the food que my son was wearing his pretty motocross gear and a local wandered over and said "Are you here for the Birdsville Motorbike race ",
"Yeah what race , says son".
"Gymkarna at the Birdsville racecourse to-morrow morning - all the locals are in town with there 450's"

"Dad - can I go !"
"Well son, you only have the 250 but go have a look and remember we are off to Big Red for a play at 12 noon."

12 Noon - no Son back at caravan park , so we head over to Birdaville racecourse to find that he had forked out $20 pocket money and entered the main race, and was in the lead.
But the favourite, who had won last 2 years was still to have his run.

Son did circuit in 18.40 seconds . We held our breath as favourite pulled 18.47 and then watched as another dozen riders tried to beat his time.

No-One did. Mark was declared winner, walked over to commentry box where theywrote out his winners cheque for $375 on the spot.

5 minutes later we were out of town with the cash.

Hope they let the Millers come back again !

Have a wonderful trip Kev!
