A mate has had the chip etc installed in his Jeep Cheroke - no difference, and why should there be - the manufacturers know what they're doing and in the highly competitive market place they are looking for all angles to improve power and fuel economy. Ie its a con!!

Depends on the brand of chip. My mate has one in his D4D hilux and has made a big difference. I have driven the vehicle both before and after and can say definately a big difference. Does it shorten the length of the motor ?? Possibly as I imagine its putting more strain on things. Also know my cousin has chipped up his current model rodeo (diesel) and whilst I did feel the difference I dont think as noticeable as the hilux. Both vehicles are manual. WHG

Name the chip.

Did he dyno it before and after or just chuck it in and expect miracles.

I have Safari Dtronic in my 100 TD and get 20 HP more than before and also much better torque curve.

Definitely notice the difference and also put a larger diameter exhaust at the same time.
