Hi Brian,
Just got back from up that way, if you have a Wooly's voucher keep one for Cloncurry, cheapest fuel in town. You should if this close get up to Lawn Hill National Park, stay at Adels Grove and ask to camp down at the grove a lot more shade but a little further to the loos.
Caravan park in Karumba we stayed at was right in town called the Gulf Country Caravan Park, very nice place. the people very friendly. But the best part is the sea food restaurant over the road, great food and the price was very good, and we've been to some good sea food restauants and this one comes up in the best three.
Don't stop in Rockhampton come down to Yeppoon, much nicer down at the beach, if you see the MU give us a call ch 40,have a great trip Bruce MU-ving on

HI Brian , I live in Mt Isa , and am a regular visitor to Karumba , is a great place to visit but would recommend to book caravan site well in advance as there are many tourists up there at this time of year, echo comments in previous reply about lawn hill and adels grove , put these on your must see places , also a trip into the Isa is worth it , they have just opened an 11 million dollar tourist centre here which is worth a look . Hope you have a great trip

We got back from there 2 weeks ago & will second Adel's Grove & restraunt at Karumba. Only fish we caught in a week at Karumba were 6 medium bream but a week later a mate told us he got a bag full at Normanton. Also recomend a ride on the Gulf lander train at Normanton. As to camping ring a few places as karumba is fairly busy this time of year. have a great time & good luck with fish.Regards Bob

Helo Brian ,
We live at Karumba. Fishing was quiet a few weeks ago but they are on the bite again as it begins to warm up a bit. There are three main caravanparks around town. There is one in town(Gulf Country)which is not far from the town boat ramp which lands you in the Norman River.There is another park on the road into 'The Point' called Barry and Lorraines. Then there is another park called The Sun Set Caravan park which is right next to the beach and boat ramp where the Norman River meets the Gulf. All of the caravan parks are friendly. There are alot of visitors and travellers around at this time of year. The Point is about 8klm out from town(only 5 minutes). Just about everything is within walking distance at the point.You can catch some beautiful Sunsets off the beach.
