Article Overview - Long Range Fuel Tanks
A large number of outback treks involve long distances between fuel outlets. Jerry cans are dangerous, difficult to store and not as convenient as a long range fuel tank. View Full Article...
Just fitted a Brown Davis 148 lt LR tank to the Patrol.
WOW !.... How easy are they to fit ?
The answer is very !

It's a pleasure to work on things that are made right.
Removal of old standard tank, approx 1hr.
Put new LR tank beside old tank, transfer bits and pieces, and double check, triple check, approx 30 min.

Fit new tank, bolted up in 20 minutes.
Jiggle everything around, ie hoses, pipes, and electrical nic naks, scratch head, and swearing, 1 hr.

Emptied 1/2 full old standard tank of fuel, into new fitted tank, 30 minutes
(mistake; should have transferred it all into a couple of Jerry's)

Fired up truck, to remove any air locks, and transfer sub tank 30 minutes.

All done, have 2 burbon & cokes.

I'm a legend ! ( in my own smoko break !)
Thanks to Adam, the mate, for helping and for heaping it on me for the duration.

Now gotta fill her up, and hope like hell I have got it right and have no leaks.

Cheers
Bucky

They make good gear Bucky. I've got the 80 litre sub tank and I had them pull out and fix my leaking Long Ranger 145 litre after ARB baulked at the responsability (they just sell them!).

The boys at Brown Davis like a bit of a challenge. They made the in vehicle computer mount for my Patrol and I'm giving them the car next week for them to work up an outwards telescoping mount for the HF autotune areal (I need to be able to slide it sideways when I have the roof top tent on). They are also going to have a play with the bar work on the Arctic Cat in time for next years expeditions.

Cheers

Mick.

Hi Mick,
I have checked out their web site, but could not see the computer mounts. Was yours a once off for them or do they make them for each type of vehicle. Your set up looks great and perfect for the places that you take your vehicle.

Are you still look for the Lake Everard Contact?

Best Regards

Stephen

Just looked at the Brown Davis site and it appears that a replacement tank for a 75 series troopy (1995) is not available.

Is this correct or do other manufacturers make them.

Just give them a ring, or send them an email.

They are good blokes there, and from what I could see they are only really interested in helping people.

Cheers

$880 pick up.

And by now you would have read my fun afternoon fitting it.

They wanted $1095 I think, but don't quote me on that, as I have only ever been wrong once in my life, and I do not want to make it 2 times (hehehe)

Now I have a range of 800km towing the Trak Shak, in the Canning. (hard going)
Still have to fill up some Jerry's, (5 in total)
So no big sub tank is coming, as I will still have to carry jerry's.
Worst case senario, with 280 lts is 1200km.
Just enuf.

Cheers Bucky
