Plenty Hwy

Make sure that you fuel up at Jervois station. The Plenty is fine for ct's in the dry, stay away from that route in the heavy rains.
Travel time is usually two days at around 80km. Adjust tyre pressures , be aware that the Plenty has killed plenty of tyres.

We did the trip in July/August in a Prado towing a trackabout CT.
The Plenty varied from OK to really bad around Jervois. We drove on the verges for about 100 klm as the road was so corrugated and cut up. The lady running Jerviois told us the grader hadn't been through for a long while. Make sure you turn off the Plenty and go down Cattlewater Pass to Ruby Gap. Its a great trip.

Brett. Different view - We did it in early July and thought it to be a highway, hell of a lot better than I thought it would be. No trailer though. We drove from just out of Boulia first thing in the morning to camp in the West Macdonald Ranges that Late Arvo. Sat on 100k in Qld and in NT, 110K. Only had to slow down in a few spots, that had fallen apart a bit and do a bit of rock dodging. There were some sections of corrugations but we sat on top of them. Towing may be a different story, the bumps may be more obvious. Hope you find it as good as we did. Cheers Tony

We did it in July '08, in a ford Escape and a camper trailer, from Mt. Isa to Alice Springs in 2 days with overnight in Jervis.
Fantastic trip, much like a highway with corrugation, bring your tyres down and drive accordingly, remember you are on holidays not in a race.
