have a caravan fitted with t/f for 240 to 12 volts. t/f has a switch that when on draws from deep cell batteries. at present i charge batteries from 240 v via charger but wonder if in fact the batteries may charge when connected to the car driving or even when connected to 240 volts . is this posible - is there any simple check a mortal can do to see if this is so without blowing up my van . thanks for any help regards peter

Peter, the task you require can quite easily done. See an auto electrician, he should be able to do the connection through your trailer plug, quite cheaply. Happy trails, Mike.

with my last 2 vans being Jayco, they are fitted with 12v inverters so all lighting is run on 12v.
my caravan battery is charged while the vehicle is running and is isolated when the vehicle is switched off which gives me all the power I need for running my 12v devices.
The dual battery system only cost $160 to install by an auto electrician.
