What is a ggod way to store glassware (wine glasses, etc) in the overhead cupboard so that they don't move around and get broken?

you could try those soft rubber rolls you can buy from say Crazy Clarkes...................the ones that have all the holes in them.

they would make good protectors as well as doubling as washing up sponges or place mats, liners for shelves even, cheers.

We just wrap them in small bits of that shelf matting - you can get it everywhere including cheapie shops - we use it to minimise sliding of all our stuff.

The offcuts make good little glassware wrappers.

Lee,

We had 6 years in a van, travelling around stations, & mostly on 2nd class roads. Wife used to throw tea towels over them, and never broke any glasses.

Must admit don't remember us having too many wine glasses, mainly vegemite glasses! They make a damn fine red drinking vessel LOL.

Lee, whether in a camper trailer or caravan I always wrap my wine glasses in bubble wrap with adhesive tape to hold. The glass just slips in or out of the bubble wrap.

We use 50mm thick foam and cut holes out to fit each size glass.
Works a treat.
Just cut a piece to fit the inside of the cupboard and you can put the glasses within 15mm of each other without probs

What he said. Works well.
Also we put a 5mm piece of harder foam across the bottom of the cupboard under the cut-out piece so we stand all the cups and glasses upside down

Had local firm who work with styrene foam cut a piece to fit cupboard and included 4 holes to fit glasses. Matches the piece under the bench seat which was cut to fit snugly between seat and wheel arch and has holes cut to allow us to carry 16 bottles with absolute security. 8 red 8 white. Scotch and rum sit in front to stop the wine bottles moving forward. Further security provided by double sleeping bag for the extra cold nights. Can't be tooooo careful.

We purchased two pillows from one of the chain stores, poor quality however just the right softness. We put them in the cupboards over the glasses and other table ware and never had any more problems. When you arrive and set up camp just throw the pillows on the bed.

I do exactly the same thing, put the loose cushions from the dinette in the cupboards just as we are about to leave.

The other trick I have learned is to have the heavy base of the glass down rather than standing the glass upside down. It is less likely to move in this position.

Hi Lee,

You can get plastic coated wire glass/cup holders from most caravan accessory outlets. They work really well and can be attached to the inside of a cupboard or simply on a wall near the kitchen. Found this link which shows what they look like...

G'day Lee

My 'precious (and expensive)' wine glasses from the Op shop...lol...are carried in those neoprene, zippered stubby holders from GoLo etc. From memory they were $1.50 each but I've never had a breakage and this includes carrying in a fabric picnic bag as well as the camper trailer. In camp they can double as a cooler!

Hope this helps?
