Hi all,

Good news.

This morning I rang the Capricorn Road House, the fuel suppliers for Well 23 and they say they expect to again start deliveries by the 2nd week in May 2009. The price at the moment is $500 for 200 litres of diesel or unleaded. This price will of course change if something dramatic happens.

Anyone wishing to order will need to give 6 weeks notice. The phone number is 08 9175 1535. They don't have an email address.

I contacted them late last year - I think about early November and was told that they had purchased a larger truck for the coming tourist season. The good thing to come out of your contact with them is the price of the fuel. Back in November, then fuel had not dropped a great deal in price and I was quoted $550 for 200 litres. If things keep going the way that they are, it may even get cheaper - we hope. Thanks for sending that information that I asked for. We can't wait to get up that way again.

Our group will be more "modest in their spending only around $2000".

When are you going through? We are going north to south and should be at W23 around mid July.

Don't rely on there being any siphoning gear or pumps either. The fuel dump wasn't used in 2008 - so anything that may have been there may have been pilferred.

We will be using a Tanami pump type system to extract the fuel.

I will be going South / North and be back in Alice Springs around mid July. I always take my own hand pump as the ones there are very ordinary.
