Has anyone else had any experiences with the owners at this beautiful pristine campground? My story won't get past the moderator on this forum, so I can only say that we have never been harassed like this before. I would like to know if we are alone in this (other than andrea11, back in 2007), or have others fallen victim as well?

It is a shame the new owners at Goomburra are being nasty to campers, Dean and his wife were the opposite. I cant remember her name but I know she had a terrible motorbike accident so they sold up and now live at Allora. I agree, stay at Gordon Country just past GVCC or maybe go to Leslie Dam at Warwick, a lovely spot to camp. Glendon camping ground is also great for camping, it's 38ks west of Warwick.
Plenty of places to go without enduring rude managers.

Hi SPRINT-GTO
It is called Goomburra Valley Campground, run by Andrew & Debra. Definitely not to be confused with Gordon Country, which looks like the place to go, especially if you can be more self sufficient.

Hi T & J,

I'm sorry to hear that you had to experience the very rude obnoxious Management/Owners at Goomburra Valley camp ground. Some day I'm sure he will be rude to the wrong man, and they will get a good lesson in corrective attitude. It has been over a year or more since we went camping there, and I was secretely hoping that it would have changed hands by now, although I gather business may well be very slow.

There is another at Cunungra which is just as peaceful that we visit.

Hi Andrea11,

I was hoping you might see our thread, as it sounded like you had a similar experience. It would be worth going back there with a camera ready to record things, because the language and abuse we got in front of little kids is almost surreal. I woke up the next day wondering if it was all a dream. Unbelievable. We were so concerned about other campers that the incident has been reported to ALL the relevant local people.

Hi T & J,

That is unfortunate, I just don't know what on earth would possess someone to carry on that way the new owners are definatly in the wrong business, and I dare say they have lost a great deal of goodwill. We will never again go back there until it changes hands. So lets hope that it does change sooner rather than later as it is a lovely place minus the owners. This guy is definatly one in a million as I have never ever come across that in any of the many campgrounds that we have visited.

I notice on a previous thread a reply was deleted as it was deemed to be a personal attack.
I don't see why these people should be protected from personal attacks when they have made an artform of dealing them out.

We were ripped off, acused, abused, threatned and insulted. All this for only $20.00 per night.
A masochist would think that this was good value for money, but we were horrified.

These people are definately in the wrong business.

Another bad story here about the Goomburra Campground...... we went consecutive years, the first year was the previous owner and the following year was the current owner. Talk about opposites!!!! They are totally in the wrong business!! No people skills at all.

There's always Gordon Country up the road, or Janowen Hills on the way in....... Janowen is a nice spot to camp as well and the owners are lovely people.

Cheers

Brian

We have camped there many times and were also there at easter and have always enjoyed ourselves. Our children have a wonderful time riding their bikes and playing in the creek. We find the owners to be very friendly and helpful (only to helpful with any problems we have had while there). We are just wondering what you must have done to upset them !!!!!

How about elaborating on the problems you have had while there that the owners helped you with , may just sway the opinions a little.

Perhaps the horrible owners at Goomburra Valley Campgrounds sought some help from a good Dr who recogonised these people needed a great deal of help with thier attitude and he prescribed accordingly. Let me tell you very clearly that we are just your average husband / wife that likes to just get away in our little caravan and enjoy the quiet life. Believe me when I tell you that these people don't need anything to upset them they are just down right awful and are really in the wrong business, I would suggest the best occupation for these people would be Prison Guards at long bay prison.

That's a good suggestion Axel, maybe Goonie88 can elaborate what problems they got help with. Andrea11, once again your eloquence with words amazes me. "SPOT ON". I consider Goonie88 extremely lucky to have had close encounters and obviously escaped. Maybe Goonie88, you have not read all the other threads about this place, and the new owners. All complaints are from families like yourselves and all of us. Please keep in touch over time and let us all know about your camping trips to GVC, as it is only a matter of time for you to. Remember to take the video cam to record the insults.

I'll back up goonie with camping at goomburra valley, we've been there heaps and the first time we forgot our power lead and they lent us one. another time my mum hurt her back getting down the bed in the camper and Debbie rang the local doctor and made an appointment for her,
however the last time we camped there (just before easter) we were camped near a loud and obnoxious group of people that had to be asked by Andy several times to quieten down as they were disturbing other campers. we also heard a conversation between them about stealing firewood and didn't hear Andy abuse anyone, but the campers didn't hold back- these are just some of the things that the owners have to deal with. the same weekend the police social club camped there and they commented to us about the unruly groups behaviour and were appreciative of the way Andy handled them. we all come to enjoy the peace and quiet and don't want to listen to drunk and loud people - that's why we camp at goomburra valley.

Reminds me of a previous thread from Gone Bush (WA)

"Hmmmmm,

sounds like the owners of Goomburra have registered and are fighting back.

I'll sit back and watch. "

Gone Bush, are you still watching?

what is it with you guys!! when you post a negative comment- it's ok, but when some one says something good about the campground you assume that it's the owners. we're not the owners (wish we were though)
but when we go camping there again in May i'll be sure to let them know about this forum and what's been posted

In the hope to put an end to this debate -

I have been managing a successful business for 30 years and never have I sought to insult a client, especially in the manner we were insulted, in my opinion this behaviour is extremely unprofessional and demeaning. All this because one of us was making farm animal noises to keep a young child entertained.

I guess "I was only playing with a little girl" was an unfortunate thing to say to Andrew as I got the impression from the smile on his face when he replied that he enjoys insulting people.

He was lucky we were not unruly, as an unruly mob would have handled the situation very differently. Or maybe he was hoping for a different outcome, you dont call people cowards or question their sexuality unless you are looking for trouble.

No matter what anyone says I am proud of the way our group handled the situation, if only Andrew would learn from the example we set and refrain from using abuse and insults as a method of problem resolution.
