Being a sucker for gadgets I bought a Mio Moov 300 from Hardley Normal yesterday for $260.

I had difficulty setting up an SD card as described in the MioPocket 2.0 instructions.

However, there is a hack which unlocks the Mio desktop and it only takes seconds to download and run. Mio Moov Unlock Code

I haven't installed Ozi yet but that will be my next project.

Bob, having downloaded the file, I get a zipped file. I unzipped it, transferred the contents to a SD card and put it into the Mio. Nothing seems to have changed. What do I need to do now to get the unlock to happen?
Thanks
Mike

Read the "read me" file. You need to rename some of the folders - the instructions are very god and it's a simple process.

Mike

You don't need to transfer the contents of the file to the Mio.

Step 1. - Preparing the device.
Make a backup copy of your original directories/files.
http://navmanunlocked.wikispaces.com/Backup

Step 2. - Connecting the device.
Connect your device by the USB cable to your PC.

Step 3. - Installing the Unlock hack.
Please start the setup program of the Mio_Moov_Unlock and click to "Unlock Desktop".

There is a button to "Install Desktop".

Step 4. - Disconnecting the device.
Use the Windows Explorer to eject the device safely. Very important!!!

The above is from the page I linked to. You run the downloaded programme on your laptop/desktop and it unlocks the connected Mio. I have Pocket Mio on an SD card which can be accessed once the unlock hack has been run.

I'm running Ozi on Miopocket 2 on a hacked Navman S50 with great success. I have put about 15 others on to this mod so far on various Navman S series models, also with great success. Some info here (Pajeroclub).

I have MioPocket running on my Mio 300 + OziCE & IGO

Works a treat, excellent GPS with the latest Sift chipset means super fast position locks. It will even get a lock inside my house near a window & hold that lock even when I move to the centre of my house!

Best thing is using the SD unlock method, you just eject the SD Card & the unit returns to normal.

I purchased a sunguard off ebay to assist with the issues with all of these units with direct sunlight on the screen.

I got my Mio 300 for $198 at the post xmas sales at HN. They have since had them at that price another two times....just keep an ear out for thier advertisements :)

The unit will also take SDHC SD cards so 8GB & higher are usable so you can have all of your ozi maps loaded too!

Cheers

Bob
How did you go with your Mio modification??
From other eadings- it looks as if you have to run the MioPocket even after the 'unlock' hack. Have you gone down that road??
I unlocked OK- then had OziCE on a SD card..
Found OziCE thru the File manager- but it was a hassle to close down Smart (had to do a rest)..and sometimes it would freeze and/or lose the GPS contact..
Anyhow, it's all good fun !!
Cheers
