Get the six seater and yes the side factory seats fit in the back. Great to have when you need the extra seating. They are not the most comfortable so if your rear seats are to be used regularly then buy the 6 seater. If you need the rear side seats I have them avaialable. Or if you opt for the side seats all round and can only find a 3 seater then I can also help you with all the rear side seats. We have so little time to enjoy our land

Hi Glenno, I have one of these as a work vehicle. The 78 series 6 seater troopy was ordered in 2001 and we got Toyota to put in the additional rear seats. They are the sideways ones and this has put the seating up to 10. They fold up and out of the way nicely. When we need the carrying capacity of the wagon we can fold the four rear seats up and the middle seats down and then you have got the full length of the troopies rear to fill up with long stuff. A great vehicle for all sorts of things.

Mate ,if you have a family, then get yourself a decent 14inch wheel trailer.( 16inch are big an tuff, but too bloody heavy) I made my own and it's been in a lot of outback places with never a hassle.
You ain't got enough room in your truck even if it's a troopy, I've had 2 in 11 years
and I still tow my trailer.All your camping gear and sleeping gear in the trailer, clothes and food in the vehicle.
It means you never overload the vehicle and you can always see out the rear windows. You will need to install a stone deflector for obvious reasons. The trailer needs to be dustproof, but that's pretty easy to do.

Also , check with your insurance about using side mounted seats for passengers.
