Probably, via Kiandra and Tumut, a sealed road. If however extreme weather conditions prevail (snow) you may have to wait for the roads to be cleared. Taking a van from Jindabyne via Thredbo, Tom Groggin and Khancoban is not possible owing to extremely steep roads/inclines.

The Alpine road is posted as "Not suitable for Caravans" and as you have to pass throuhg the entry booth and pay for using the road, I guess they would turn you back.

There is another way via Sue City, Its also steep in parts but is dependant on snow conditions around Mt Selwyn. The long way round is via Tumut, Batlow.

Yes, vans are not recommended but how long is yours? We have towed a 13 footer lots of times. The road is tar, not very busy and you ask for a transit pass at the NPWS gate between Jindy and Thredders so it won't cost a penny. Just take it slowly on corners and look out for oncoming traffic. It's a great drive - stop at Tom Groggin for a cuppa

Both the Thredbo and Cabramurra roads are closed to the south past both of those towns over winter. Check to see if they are open. If there is snow on the roads you may have to carry and fit snow chains. Check with the Kosciuszko National Park or RTA
