West Great Victoria Desert Feedback

Phil Bianchi's Lake Rason story. I own the shack on Lake Rason as mentioned in the story, It's called the "Seven Millers Shack"
due to the 4 owners all have 7mm Remington Magnem Rifles. The shack we built was of our own money for us and others to use free of charge. I'ts a sort of refuge come shelter with water and food if needed in emergency, or just visit and relax. Anyone can use it, just keep it clean, pickup your rubish, don't leave animal remains within 5km of the shack re health, smell and unsightly for the next visitors.
QUESTION: Can Phil edit his story where the shack is on the Eastern end of Lake Rason to it's TRUE location is at the Western End of Lake Rason some 70 odd Km away from the eastern end. No good someone looking for it at the wrong end of Rason hey. Regards Darryl Mclean - Seven Miller

Gday Darryl,

I wondered who was the person with a great sense of humour!!
I've been past your front postbox a few times - I like your postbox, considering where it is there on the west end of Lake Rason:

Phil

What call that a sense of humour? "due to the 4 owners all have 7mm Remington Magnem Rifles."

And those signs like theft to me, hope some poor kid doesn't get ran over.. LOL

Cheers

Hi Darryl,

I am the Phil B who wrote the trek note - sorry about the typo, but glad its been fixed up.

Let me say thank you from hundreds of travellers to you and the guys for this excellent facility, we have shown many people over the years and stayed there as well. The last time in June 09, not long after you guys had been there.

Sadly we saw some @#$& has knocked off the excellent map of the local area, that was on your shack wall. Glad I managed to record most of the details before it disappeared.

Every time we visit more interesting bits have been added. I really like your billy with an upside spout, the spear with a telescopic sight, fish pond, one hole golf course and pizza oven to name a few.

What’s next a revolving restaurant or spa – lol?

Please accept our thanks and best wishes - to you and the rest of the crew.

Phil B

Thanks guys, Im the one with the silly sence of humur. Next up is a ceiling fan from that tree with the hanging branch near the fire place, I'll be able to place my chair under it, Plan to have it there and be sitting when my mates arrive. It's great to see and hear people enjoying the shack, thats what we built it for, ALL. Yes the map, a lot of hours went into that just for some low life to steel it. had all the tracks not on map added and their GPS points added then laminated and placed on the wall. I still have my copy in my map roll if any lat longs are needed. we thought of a spa Phil, you can use the fish pond and a car exhaust.... you might get a bit greasy though!? The pond, I bring out a pump and fountain head and a green pond light, conecteted to a battery and solar panel. that turns heads in the desert. It's great to sit and enjoy the view with all sorts of birds comming in for a drink. I just got back from out there, did a reno on the water tank tap on the wall, the tap seat used to get stuck, so I swapped it with a Ball valve type. as long as people turn off the main gate valve on the tank when finished we're happy. Thanks to who ever put up the small A frame over the shower for those who use a solar shower, been meaning to do that. The shower is set up to use one of those Primus instant gas hot water showers. so if you have one, take it along for a great desert shower.
Next year we have to replace the old section of the shack, unfortunatly those little wood eating buggers have done a great job in their book. so we are gathering up bits and peices as we can get them. we are going to extend the big roof same height back over the original timber section which has been there for 20 years now.
