2004 NP Pajero any problems fitting 265/70R17

Hope I can get some answers from the Pajero owners that have been there and done that.

Standard tyres are 265 /65 / 17 . Don't have a huge choice of tyres in the standard size much better with the slightly bigger size.

I am considering fitting slightly bigger ( height ) tyres. Will I have any trouble with things hitting steering components or body work.

It's only 30 mm on the Diameter.

Cheers Scoof . :-)

On my 16's i found the larger tyres with a "squarer" profile tend to rub on the plastic liner occasionally when hitting some larger bumps with standard suspension....i believe with metal bullbars it wouldn't have this problem as the liner is cut off/bent back down low.

I run 265/75/16LT, so the 1mm less diameter on your choice should be no problem, using the EO tyre size calculator.

I thought your Paj was a 2005? :)

Thanks Andrew ,

The Paj has a factory Bull Bar so all might be good.

Might pay to read Roachies Thread 73551 re Mr Plods view of tyre sizes in SA.

Just standard 265 x 65 R17 Cooper ATRs scrapped on full lock on my NS., where as OE Dueller HT didn't. Putting a roo bar on , which removed the bottom of the skirt fixed that problem.
Can't help you if you want more height, but I wouldn't agree there isn't a good range of tyres.
Depending on what you want, but as you are a SA dweller, I thought LT tyres would be a must for SA bush roads?
Bridgestone make a LT Dueller 694 265x 65 x R17 which I have had for 20000km. Likewise Cooper make a LT but I think it is a 70 profile.
You won't have any problems with the Cooper 70 profile if you have a roo bar, you will if you don't. Have seen NP Pajs with Cooper STT (70 series?), but again they had a roo bar.

Hi Scoof
My Prado has the same size as standard, 265/65x17. There are now some good tyres out there in LT construction without having to change from that size. I run the 694LT Bridgestones and they are a great tyre.
