Hi all.

Just wondering if it is possible to have a loaded 4wd freighted to Cairns ???
I've tried searching a few sites but all say the vehicle must be empty.
Has anyone ever done this ?
Thanks in advance.

Hey Mainey.

Yes there is a reason, we've booked our holidays for 4 months next year and they start on the 18th of September, our plans are to head straight to Cape york and spend a month going up and back. Then three mothns going down the east coast of Australia.
We are just a bit worried about going to Cape York so late, (Alot of people say it's not a good idea to go in October.) So therefore if we had our car in Cairns on the 18th September it would save us 5-7 days driving.

My reason for asking is because I'm thinking of flying over, if it's of interest to you keep it in mind :-)

They might not have the time to do a long trip but if they want to take a load of gear as well they may have to.
Austrans made a friends daughter off load all her gear when she was relocating to Broome from Perth and her Mum had to take it all back home again and road freight it seperately.
I was given a bollocking by their (Austrans) fat little yard boy in Welshpool for having a 60ltr Engel bolted down in the back seat area of a vehicle Newman to Perth and as far as he was concerned regardless of cost, it should have been "junked"!!!
Too many dodgy claims made by drivers for lost/stolen gear I suppose but their attitude stinks.
Alan.

Pay my airfare Adelaide-Perth then Cairns - Adelaide and I'll drive it over for you if you pay me $50 a day and ALL expenses. Good luck with it.

I have driven Townsville - Perth in 3.5 days. I was pushing the whole time but you should be able to do Perth - Cairns in 4 - less with 2 drivers.

Hi Bgreeeni.

Which way did you drive ? Through the great central road ? I've been told that it alone can take two days.

Cheers Lynzi

This has been brought up in the past and I can't remember what the outcome was, but, it was a familar story to yours, they won't take it loaded.

Now this is where it might get curly, I drove past CEVA's yard at Acacia ridge (Brisbane) and saw with my own beedy little eye's , an 80 series cruiser with all the fruit set up for a grand tour, siting on the trailer ready to go, . . . . somewhere.
Ceva is a division of Tolls I think and members here have contacted them re transport and was told that it had to be empty,. . but i've seen it, there must be a way..
