G'day Ian,

I frequent the area a fair bit, camping and such, beautiful area. I don't have any specific info on any particular tracks, but there is a trek listing on this site. Just go to Treks, NSW, Barrington Tops.
Have fun, Dave

Treks on here are good starter. Depending on your approach, call into a NPWS office which has maps of the trails as do local servos. Everything will be well within your vehicle's abilities.

There is something for everyone, but tread lightly of course.

Hi Ian,
Head North on Cherry Tree Rd off Upper Monkerai Rd. You can use Google Maps to get some bearing first but there are plenty in the forest up that way. Tracks aren't extreme but you'll have some fun, particularly if it wet!

Re:Cherry Tree Rd

On The HEMA Barrington Tops Map it shows that there is a gate at the top heading into the Avon River Stare Forest. Is this a seasonal gate ?

Hi Rex,
Don't recall seeing a gate. From memory, Cheery Tree Rd is main'ish road travelling along side farms, then the farms end and forest begins the road keep going there is an immediate right turn through the river and into the bush.

Looking at Google again there is another road, Lawlers Creek Rd which runs north into the mountains too. I can't be sure which one it is now.

It's a good area worth exploring. I normally camp at Riverwood Downs as it has good facilities (for ladies), can have fires, large enough grounds to not be camping on top of each other and there is even a bar and pool table in the restaurant.

When the missus and I went to Moonan Flat, we asked the postmaster for another way back, he sent us to Eccleston then we made a right turn and followed this track back up the mountain, needless to say, when we got home, I looked up the maps and they were classed as 4WD tracks

Now if our Corolla can make it up 4WD tracks, you will have lots of fun too
