Hi bushpig,
Not a problem getting it regassed, done it many a time.
If it is on R12, R409 is a replacement gas for it.
You can retrofit to R134a, but the system will need to be flushed out and the mineral oil in the compressor removed and replaced with synthetic.
I would have thought it would be on R22 which is not a problem to purchase at the moment.
Although it is being phased out.
The new air cond systems are now R410 which is the new standard.
This gas can not be use in an old system as it runs at very high pressures.
