Jockey wheel options

Hi,

I have a coromal Magnum 440 camper trailer with a ball weight of 220Kgs, and looking for alternative jockey wheel options. I currently use an 8" solid rubber Jockey Wheel. This is incredibly hard to maneuver on any surface. I had purchased a 10" Pneumatic Tyre, which appeared to fold over on itself once the wheel was engaged. Has anyone used a device that handles this weight load? Any suggestions / advise are greatly appreciated.

I run a Mako Mule with a 8" pneumatic tyre on a ball weight of 210kg with a tyre pressure of 60psi or what ever the max of the tyre is.
Manouvering on brick and concrete it is reasonably easy providing the van is mobile and is fairly hard to pivot when stationary. However have not tried it on a loose surfaces.
Sometimes I feel that I should have gone for the dual tyred version.

Nice...I like your way of thinking - how does this maneuver?? I would have thought the wheels would pivot in different directions making the trailer similar to a disfunctional shopping trolley.....This may be a great solution, thanks again

Well, I make sure that the wheels are facing the same way and nudge the drawbar with my leg and then the trailer moves. The twin set-up is more from a safety point as the swing-away jockey wheels are sometimes loose due to travelling vibrations over corrugations or rough country, or when the trailer is on an uneven surface.

I have a Coromal F400 which has a ball weight of 132kg and the van weight is around the 1400kg mark I use a single wheel Mako Mule.On solid surfaces its fine and very easy to move the van around, with however as soon as it gets to gravel it does lose its grip and can become awkward to move. Either way, it is better than the pneumatic wheel that i used to use and less strain on the back.
