I bought one of these (see ebay item number below) in 2006 and have it wired up so it is on all the time, something I have found unnecessary. I am about to change the power to the camera so I can switch it on and off when I need to. I have it mounted on the inside of the troopie rear door, but you would mount yours outside which should be better than mine. Mine is a colour camera but when the camera looks through the glass of the rear window it loses its colour ability, possibly because of the tinting. Also the infra red reflects back into the lens at night, again something you will not have to deal with if you don't mount it behind glass.
It works a treat. Great vision side to side. Adjustable up and down to suit where you mount it so you can look down close to your tow bar or look out similar to a rear view mirror, past what you are towing to what is further behind.
Great value for the price I feel.
This model uses a video cable which in my opinion is better than wireless. It also has infra red which is great for night viewing/reversing.
Mine is over 3 years old and still working great, even thought I would suggest to extend the life of this camera, not to have it running all the time, just when you need it (reversing or towing).
Ebay item number 350270132512 is a buy it now one, 250533258932 is same model but bid for it, 250533252397 is the similar model just with a better resolution. The lower resolution ones are fine.
I am not connected to the seller in any way. I have dealt with Brash imports and found them to be quality items and easy transactions.
Also, I am viewing it on an LCD screen 16 cm wide and 12 cm high. I am sure that makes a difference too. Don't get a tiny screen, you wont see anything properly!
As for the image at 100 km/h, the boat will be moving at the same speed as the car so it will appear crystal clear in the screen. The trees, lines
on the road, guard rail and what ever else is out to the side of the car will be a blur no matter what camera you have. The blurriness has more to do with the refresh rate of the screen compared to the speed of the vehicle more than anything to do with the camera. No matter what camera or screen you get, some of the vision of the stationary items
on the road will be blurry at 100 km/h, what ever is travelling at a similar speed to you will be clear (ie the car behind or what you are towing etc).
Don't go out a buy a package deal either. You should be able to find a camera to suit (as suggested above) and a screen to suit your vehicle and all you need to do is mount them, provide them with power and link the two with audio-visual cable with RCA plugs at each end. Cable can be bought at jaycar or dick smith or
places like that. Probably a 5 m lead would do.
I have a flip down screen mounted to the overhead console of my troopie and have removed the rear view mirror from the windscreen. I don't use it all the time so it is handy to be able to fold it up out of the way for the majority of the time.
