Hairy (NT)

Gday,
Im having trouble downloading routes from EO to put on my GPS AGAIN!!!

Question 1. Whats the difference between a trek and a route when downloading?

What I have done is type in a destination (in" Places"). Alice to Geraldton.......got the map and info up and downloaded the trek. Unzipped the trek and gone to convert it with the OZF converter and the converter cant find the file???

Then I opened Treks.....opened Great Central Road.......and downloaded the route.....again the converter cant find or doesn't recognise the file.

Question 2. Can I download all the places of interest, fuel stops and travel notes etc , on to my GPS or is that getting to hard.

Cheers
Hairy

Would I be right in thinking its a PLT file which doesnt need converting?

If so...I still cant get it working on my PDA???

Hi
Yes plt is the format for the track file (not actually a "route" in gps terminology but just a record of the path taken). There is no need to convert it. The img2ozf program is for converting map images to ozf format - which is preferred format for OziExplorerCe though you can use ecw and some other image formats (eg jpg, png) as long as files arent too big.

Hairy,
As the guys above have stated a download in Ozi format will not need converting - a .plt is the plot point file and the .wpt are the waypoints. So open then in Ozi with either Load Route or Load Waypoints.

Enjoy.
