Hi all .not really necessary,just wanted to know if any has used electric kettle & toaster with 2kva Honda,we tried it direct to unit worked ok but feel it is pushing it bit that's with household items,maybe there is better suited items around.would really appreciate opinion's

Will not run a kettle but we use a Breville 1050 watt toaster and it worsk fine. Revs a bit.

We can run a upto 1400watt phillips iron no worries as well.

You need to turn of the caravan battery charger to do this.

Things like kettles, toasters and anything with a heating element are pretty power hungry, you need to have a look at the particular appliance requirements

Carl and tenpounder, the section of the right gear is important. We have found a 1500w kettle and that runs easily enough. We also carry a 1700w coffee machine to spoil ourselves and friends occasionally. Turn off the ecothrottle and let it hum properly some times. It needs that to blow out the cob webs occasionally. Need to stop the cylinder bore polishing.

We tried it at home once. The 2kva gen almost stalled. We use stove top kettle or the Coleman for hot water. No fire no toast simple unless you have a caravan then you have a gas grill.

One of those gauze toasters over a gas burner and a kettle on gas burner works without needing to start up a genny, and they are lightweight and take up little room when camping.

Couldn't agree more. Just had a week in the Flinders: gas stove (with built in toaster - such luxury!!), gas light and even a gas heater, plus a 12v fluoro plugged into the car. Fridge, of course, is taken care of by the deep cycle batteries.
No need for power up to the stage where the vehicle batteries need a top up!

I believe that alot of people believe that bigger is better. I have a 650watt generator that runs all my lights, Weaco fridge and television and I use a kettle and toaster (those mesh ones) either on a fire or the gas stove and sometimes an electric fan. I do have an air con but if I wanted to use it I would need a 2.5 to 3kva generator and under normal operating conditions, without an air con running, I would soon glaze up the engine and have no power at all and breakdowns usually occur when your miles from nowhere.
