I would like to comment on your article on the Tanami Pump.

I am the inventor/manufacturer of this product. Firstly if I can address your vicious letter point by point. I do not advertise in Gold Gem & Treasure magazine...although I had done years ago.

I do not want to install as you call it "spywear" onto other peoples computers. My site is free though which unfortunately allows the host to plaster adverts all over it. I have a free site to cut costs as I do all the patents, manufacture and advertising myself. (note: I used to provide a free link to "ExploreOz" on my free site and they never complained)

This product is NOT dangerous but could be if used by a person such as yourself, who has never tried one or read the operating instructions supplied.

If you can find a better relief valve than the one I have developed please let me know, it blows off at 5psi which is 25psi below the metal jerrycans test limit.

I DO have product insurance.

As you say you wouldn't touch this product.....Believe me when I say that I would never sell you one!

And as for bringing this product to the attention of the NSW & Vic authorities....well if you can get their attention I would welcome any interaction with them. If they are as hard to deal with as the WA authorities then I wish you luck!

David, just a quick comment, You may wish to add the fact that the original post from OziEplorer was on 7/1/03 post 2836. It will make it easier for people to know what you are on about. Also, may I ask why you took so long to comment and reply? Just curious.

Hello John and to everyone who has replied to my letter.

Firstly sorry I blew a fuse.

A friend entered "tanami pump" on Google just recently (21/10/2003) and it came up with a letter from the Exploroz site.

I haven't visited this site since I left WA over 2 years ago. And never commented to anything on "Forum".

Anyway the letter was so bad that I tried to reply as quickly as possible, without knowing how to register etc etc.

So it ended up basically "in the middle of nowhere" with all the forum readers trying to figure out who this idiot is venting steam all over your web site.

So please accept my apology to you all and thankyou for your follow ups.

And if you can brave all the free ads my site is www.outbackin.com.

Thankyou
David Latus

Forgive my ignorance but doesn't the continual flow of compressed entering the jerry can after being delivered via a plastic hose cause static build up? How do you counteract this?

You would be using your own air hose from your compressor wouldn't you.

And a metal jerry sitting on the ground would be effectively earthed.

Hello ays

You are not ignorant! Static electricity is built up by the flow of fluid along a hose. Its counteracted by using a jumper lead (earth wire etc) attached from the can to your filler neck inlet.

The hose actually will earth to the filler neck if it touches it however.

Bruce,

I have emailed with David and I advised him to place the post on the system. He after all created it and was given a slag by Ozi. He is aware that we are different and there is no problem from that end. I actually wanted David to post it agaiinst the original thread but this is OK.

I will attach his reponse to the original thread.Regards

Hi dlatus, re your tanami air pump, i haven't read the early post and don't intend to, but i can tell you that your product was recently recommended to a couple of forum users as an alternative to electric pumps etc. They were quite interested because of the safety etc. compared to electric pumps, SO, here is some feedback - people are aware your product is good quality and serves a purpose adressing various safety and manual handling issues. There is interest in your product to suit the newer plastic 20l jerrycans, so maybee you might want to consider a threaded adapter to fit your pump onto these style of containers and therefore increase your marketing and sales capabilities.. There you go, FREE R&D , Marketing AND Product feedback advice !!! Explore Oz is a fantastic trusted resource with worldwide exposure and users, and a product you should include in your marketing resources (check on the stats and you will be impressed)

Cheers Brad..Life is short- but there's always time for a yarda.

Hello Bradley

Hey thanks for that!!

I have been hassled many times to make one for the plastic jerrys but I have to tool up all over again for that.

Tooling costs around $25,000- $50,000. Its a BIG leap of faith that I'm not prepared to jump to, at the moment.
