Shame the budget didn't stretch to include all areas of QLD that were actually hit by record flood levels.

Sir Kev,

It is not ABC's fault. Nearmap is a private company that only do arial photography of large cities.

NearMap does do other areas, St George was done on the 8 Mar 2010.

In my area of work these types of aerial photos assist me greatly in showing flood affected areas, so as I can make informed decisions.
By limiting the areas done is a great shame as other people will be able to view the photo's when purchasing land to build.

One can only hope all areas which were flooded were done. Including Victoria.

Cheres Kev

Maybe they do, but not as often.

The other limiting factor is clouds.Brisbane had the unusual situation where flooding occured during cloudless skies.

Hi Kev, understand where you are coming from. Its my understanding that Nearmap aims to progressively cover a lot more of the country. But to be fair they had to start somewhere. There are just a few rural bits and pieces done, and they will add to that over time I suppose. Using aerial images makes for a longer job than using satellite imagery.

Val,

It is just frustrating that areas that it could be put to good use are not done at critical times which can assist with future planning.

I am still hopeful that DERM had some done for out here that I can use ;)

Cheers Kev
