Hi Guys,

Some of you may remember a post I put up a couple of months ago about the importance of carrying fire extinguisher which came about as a result of the battery isolator I had installed catching fire. ARB have now completed their investigation of the incident and as a result a recall has been issued for a batch of isolators/separators.

Details can be found at: http://www.recalls.gov.au/content/index.phtml/itemId/1004707

This only affects Sure Power Battery Separators which were used in ARB dual battery kits until they changed to Redarc's.

I would like to thank ARB head office for keeping me informed on their investigation and I think that we can all be confident that ARB will give us the product back-up that we deserve.

Thanks

Steve..

Good to hear.

This shows the advantages of dealing with a local (Australian based) legit company who offer 100% backup and support.

What did they do for you to over come the problem.

The isolator was swapped for a different brand, all wiring was checked and the engine bay was given a really good clean as I had to use a fire extinguisher. They also installed the wiring for the button on the dash to bring the second battery in for starting if required.

I was hoping for a free stubby holder as well!

Hi Stephen, I had two fail and after the second one failed it was replaced with a redarc. Lucky, I didnt have a fire by the sound of things.

Also had good service from the same company.

Hi everyone, First off thanks stephen L for your post. I wonder if this is the item that drains both my batteries when the vehicle isn't driven for 2-3 days!!! Anyway off to the installer to have it removed and the redarc put in...fingers crossed. Incidentially the 1800 phone number on the recall notice is incorrect...Sure Power is an American company and the only number available is an American 1800...so if you do phone don't get short tempered when talking to someone on the end of the phone who doesn't have a clue about what you are talking about.....

The 1800 number on the page is the correct number.
good luck on getting an instant fix on this.
