Hi all

For those who don't know I have been running a short blog on the all new Ford Ranger as I was lucky enough to win a contest to test one for 3 weeks before its official release in October. (if enough people vote for the video posted next month on the Ford site I'll win one!)

I have finished being filmed by professionals completing my Challenge and voting starts on September 1st to decide who wins a new car...hopefully me.

However, given I have a car that not many others do and the general lack of information available before release I have started publishing a few (unprofessional) videos on Youtube. Be nice as this is my first effort at publishing video on the web!

If you go here you can start watching them. I'll post future updates here and the blog.

Cheers, Terry

G'day Terry, good vids...very clear. I must say the car looks good, but am very
unimpressed by that towbar setup. I assume it was dragging with no load, was it ?
Hardly likely to inspire the towing fraternity, but surely will be relocated if it proves to
be a serious issue. I suppose details of your Challenge are not for public info yet, so
will continue to watch with keen interest.......oldbaz.

Hi Oldbaz

Yep towbar is an issue but Ford have been informed and have spoken to the Thailand plant....guess that means something might happen? They took plenty of photos when we were doing the challenge. In saying that even when loaded it didn't drop that much and while it did hook up it wasn't the end of the world.

I can speak freely on anything...well I have been, so ask away with whatever you want to know.

Cheers, Terry

Will try mate. Ford have just asked for it back!!!!

I'm hoping for a bit more time as it arrived here 9 days late.

Build quality looks pretty good though some plastics maybe not quite up to Toyota standards BUT the price will be much cheaper apparently.

Terry
is it a 3.2td or a petrol job.
What are the kw and the NM?
I used to have a handle on life, but it broke.

Cheers Dodg.

It is 3.2 5 Cyl diesel with 6 speed auto. Fantastic drivetrain...probably the best part of the car. I think 147kw and 470nm. Fuel economy is averaging 8.9l/100km unladen. Towing and bush work averaged 12.7 which is much better than my D4D Prado.

This motor has been used in the Transit since 2008, so at least we can google it for reliability issues. Also there is a chip availabe for it over there that takes it up to 165 KW/510 NM hahahaha

This is the exact configuration I'm interested in. Was only considering the manual and when at the motor show one of the engineers that worked on the Ranger project said the auto is the go. The ZF auto in the Falcon is very nice to drive so I'm looking forward to a test drive.

I was happy with everything I saw except the towbar hanging so low. Everthing it tucked up higher than the chasis rails so nothing to get damaged or hung up on.
