Confirmation - the kid loves camping!

Today our 2.75 yr old came up to us and said "I'm ready to go". "That's nice" we replied, "ready to go where?". To which he replies quite matter-of-factly, "Camping!" No doubt this was brought about by our minor preparations for this coming weekends trip, so I patiently explained that he would have to wait for 4 more sleeps. His response..."I'll sleep in the car!" Gotta love it don't ya :o))))))))

Hi Melissa
Just think of the burden you are putting on your child (plus the one to come), the love of the bush, the fun of 4WDing and camping. My two, 22 + 24 are now thinking of taking us to court for causing this addiction to the great out doors, and the costs involved in setting up their own 4WD's and constantly touring OZ. (Dad refuses to lend out his).
Both started touring from 5 months of age, including 3 trips around OZ plus numerous short trips.

Matty already refers to the GU as "My car". The commodore is "Dad's car"...as for me, well I guess my transportation depends on their goodwill, LOL!

Ah yes, I believe that problem doesn't ever fully go away until they reach adulthood and even then it's not guaranteed. But if its any consolation, Matty was at his worst at about that age so you'll proabably notice an improvement before too long. Here's hoping anyway, LOL!

On my big trip two years ago my then 5 yr old daughter started the how far to go questions when we were 1 hour into the trip. Of course the reply 24,000 kms did not register with her. After a few days we had convinced her that in another 4 months we will be home.

She had a great time and still talks about little bits that flash back to her. She also camping and 4wd trips

Jen said to me the other day that I should take the boys camping one weekend. I was excited but poor old Kaitlyn who is 3.25 felt she was missing out. "I want to sleep in the tent too!" Tis a great when the kids have fun doing the simple things in life - gave me a warm feeling!
