That's about it, a spray under the lid of the control box, and regular cleaning of the cable after use. Don't over grease winch.

Not sure what spray you are referring to, but is should be a non-oily cleaner. Oily (water displacing sprays) are good for boats, but in 4WD bits they collect dust and cause problems. Better to ensure the control box is clean and well sealed.

The spray on the control box is on the terminals, there are no moving parts, and being on the front or under the bonnet they don't collect a lot of dust.

Give the gearbox an oil change. You need too either take the top off the box and turn it upside down to empty.

Check the wire rope,(yes I read it's a new one)they are supposed to be in most instances lubricated. Generally from the manufacture they have lubricant in the rope from being assembled. as the rope is run over the drum and fairlead or a pully the strands move against one another and in time wear. the oil is to lubricate the strands when they rub aganst one another. Never De-grease a winch rope! the rope manufatures specify the correct oil types. in general they need to the thin enought to penetrate the rope but thick enough not to run off the rope. while checking look make sure all the electrical terminas are clean!
