Hi Wayne

The Big Lift was in 2001. The photos are on display in the Motoring Hall of Fame at Alice Springs, as well as doing the rounds on the internet.

Yeh, old stuff , the trailers are green and white, RTA has been Blue and Yellow (Hampton colors) for a few years now.
There is an old set of trailers , green/white in this photo I took on Nov' 17th 2008.

Still a few sets of green/white crates at Longreach base, Doug. Even a number of white ones, probably old Hansen trailers, I'd say.

Always looked good, the green/white ones, even when covered in mud, dust & $hit. Bit of nostalgia too, being old Buntine colours, eh.

Quite common to see that many back a few years ago.

Now they tend to use less trucks but do twice as many trips.

We used to load the MV "Becrux", and would use around 40 trucks. Pretty much everything RTA and Hamptons had in the area. Truckies hated it cause was usually 40 hours straight, and loaded out 15000 head in that time.

15000 head was usually about 7-10 ships worth so a huge chunk of theirs and our wages were lost. Was good fun but not a great earner.

Becrux is the largest purpose built livestock carrier in the world incase your wondering.
