handbrakes

Submitted: Thursday, Dec 04, 2003 at 06:18

Member - Al & Mrs Al (Vic)

Why is it that you blokes call us girls "handbrakes?" From my experience when one applys the handbrake esp when in motion..it's a case of hang on tight "whoooo"...hahahha..but perhaps that's just me.....

I think maybe it's just because you love your vehicles soooooo much it's a transference thing...that's it..isn't it...nothing to do with control..surely not...

lol!

Bloke: "dont you want to see if we can make it up?"......
Handbrake: "no...... but if you want to destroy your car dont come crying to me"

Bloke: "lets go to cape york next year"
Handbrake: "why would you want to go through all that rough crap to see a beach"
Bloke: "it's cape york dear!!! what more can i say?"

Mr. Al - "I don't want to bend the car"

Mrs. Al - "why not?"

Mr. Al "resale value"

Mrs. Al "but it's meant to be driven that way"

Mr. Al "don't like the road too rough"

Mrs. Al " I do".

perhaps the handbrake theory applies to Al..rather than Mrs. [well perhaps clearer thinking does....] Mr. Al has actually considered another 4wd that could be bent...just for Mrs. Al....however that doesn't mean happening...and he'll kill me if he sees this thread....lol...

Allan from Riverland(SA) 4WD Club replied:

Mrs Al, The term handbrake when applied to the female gender derives its heritage from the act of applying the handbrake to a motor vehicle. This act causes the rear wheels of the aforesaid motor vehicle to cease motion and bring same vehicle to a halt and occasionally the m/v may lose traction and not go where it is intended. (as you yourself have previously experianced)
Thus whe the female partner applies the handbrake, the male partner is like the rear wheels and are forced to be dragged around not necessarily in the direction that they want to be in.
It is thankfully that forum's like this exist that are predominately male dominated where we cant vent our frustrations with little chance of retribution.
