ExplorOz - David & Michelle

Every home needs this book because 2012 is a great year to observe a number of unique astronomical phenomena - Solar Eclipse on Nov 14th - first time it will be visible from Australia since 2002 as a TOTAL eclipse (if you're in Cape York or Cairns) but rest of Australia/NZ see a partial eclipse. Also, the transit of Venus on June 6 is worth knowing about. Venue will pass across the face of the sun and we'll see a small dot over a period of 6 hours. Transits of Venus are rare, but occur in pairs, previous occurrence was 2004. Next occurrence is 2117 ad 2125 so don't miss it this year! There is also a Lunar Eclipse on June 4th - partially visible from all Australia/NZ. It is often hard to get astronomy references relevant to the Southern Hemisphere, let alone Australia so this is a good pick up for your next camping trip.

Working on a project concerning the Eclipse, starting to gather information at
Eclipse Down Under, site still a few weeks from launch.

One aspect of the site will be the various ways in driving to the eclipse which is where exploroz is so good, so hopefully some nice integration there. Also at this early stage very happy to hear the sort of questions one might have re the Eclipse which we could answer and add to the FAQ.

Look forward to seeing you there.
