Rough road caravan

Member - Moira S (NSW)

We are choosing a caravan that will survive the tracks and correlations. Have a tent for real off road excursions and drive to conditions taking care of tyre pressures - So - have narrowed it down to Supreme territory ( heavier, problems with leaking? But has steel floor) or the Newlands concept zodiac with simplicity suspension ( lighter, better finish but is it tough enough?) - any experience & thoughts appreciated. Cheers

Hi Moira,

We had a Newlands with simplicity suspension and the setup worked well. I wouldn't want to do anything too rough however... corrogations will kill anything.
Overall it served us well.

I think providing you don't plan on travelling along very bad roads you won't go wrong with either... Not much help sorry!

Sorry we can't comment on either of those vans. Have you looked at the Sunland Patriot? Excellent warranty and guaranteed for any gazetted road in Australia. We have not needed a tent yet! Hope this doesn't just add to your confusion. Lynne

That was tongue in cheek, a mate bought one mid last year, just back from a 14000km. trip and apart from a few minor (warranty) issues is very pleased with it.

We traveled extensively 'offroad' for the last seven years - all through remote WA in the Carnarvon Ranges, Little Sandy Desert - Gunbarrel Highways etc - this last saw a grader in 1986 towing a 19' Bushtracker with a 100 Series Cruiser

Had a few problems did two thermostats in the fridge beore I found out how to stop it, A cupboard hinge and a 12v water pump but considering the mileage we have done and the country travelled it is pretty remarkable.

The Bushtracker has a heavy duty version of the Simplicity suspension - good gear

Sometimes I wake up grumpy
Other times I let her sleep in

If you are looking for a rally great Off Roader then I would try the Grenade from On The Move Caravans.
Its really a great van. Wished I had seen it befoer I had my "lemon" built here in Adelaide
