Gday,
Well i was considing buying a fridge for my 4wd but am a bit unsure of what will be required.
I was also throwing up the idea of whether a actual say Westinghouse Bar Fridge - 120L would be able to be used on the 4wd application?
Thanks
Matt

Hi,
We and most of our mob up in
Broome use an Engel for the 4wd. If you use one put in a separate battery system. 12v 240, gas is good if you are static for a while but if you are doing a lot of moving they tend to lose evectiveness because they need to be run on a level surface. Engels are no problem but check around as I heard of another brand on the market too.
Regards
Jonesy

Nope... bar fridge useless - suggest you need a "good brand", top loading, efficient, reliable, 12/240 volt (maybe 3-way)
camping fridge. That's why they are popular..... they work when you need them way out in the donga. Suggest your question should be "given that I need a
camping fridge, what type is best considering the need to supply non-240 volt energy out in the bush for many days on end". The answer is buried in the many posts on this
forum. As mentioned, hit the search. BOL."This is a situation, up with which, we should no longer put ! (W. Churchill, on plans to reduce 4WD access in some parks).

Hi Matt
weve got an engal 40ltr, wouldnt change it for the world, when its not in the paj it sits next to the lounge chocka's with the relaxation juice. They are a lot more reliable and efficient than a bar fridge, the old man had a bar fridge hooked up to an inverter of a dual battery system, flattened the battery(55amp/h) over night, wereas the engal will run the battery flat over a couple of days pending on the setting, he has seen the light, and is now the proud owner of an engal too....
happy shopping ......

I've got an Engel 60ltr. bolted down in the back of the Land Rover, it's great, holds heaps of cans and even allows the
cook some room to put food in as
well!
Choice magazine have a web site and they recently did a comparison on
portable fridges.
