My Patrol has the same freeplay... But it is actually a worn crown-wheel and pinion from the previous owner towing a 22foot caravan for 30,000kms.... My rear diff also whines like stink but i just turn the radio up a bit more...And the clicking noise i make go away with perfecting a smooth gearchange..___________________________________
